Introduction
The samples responses given suggest the types of responses possible for the Headline Story. To help children learn to give more varied responses, you might ask questions to help them come up with some ideas.
Headline Story
Each lane in a bowling alley has 10 pins.
Possible student responses
- If there are 2 lanes then there are 20 pins.
- If there are 10 lanes then there are 100 pins.
- Since pins are in a triangle shape, the first row must have 4, the second row must have 3, and the third row must have 2, and the last row must have 1 pin.
