Jackie was supposed to meet Kaylie at the library at 1: _____ _____, but was _____ minutes late. She sis not get there until 2: _____ _____.
Possible student responses
- If they were supposed to meet at 1:30, Jackie would have to be at least 30 minutes late.
- For a 1:30 meeting time, she could be as much as 89 minutes late, because she would arrive at 2:59.
- If they were supposed to meet at 1:45, Jackie would have to be between 15 and 74 minutes late, so they could meet at times ranging from 2:00 to 2:59.
- She might only be 1 minute late if they were supposed to meet at 1:59 and she got there at 2:00.
- She could be 119 minutes (1 hour, 59 minutes) late if they were supposed to meet at 1:00 and she didn’t get there until 2:59.
