- If she ate 1 bean, then there would be 9 left and that is an odd number of beans.
- She could have eaten 3 beans so there would be 7 left.
- She could not have eaten 2 beans, because there would be an even number leftover (8).
- She had to eat an odd number of beans to have an odd number left.
