Display the Headline Story pictured in the sidebar or write it on the board. Ask children to complete the mathematical sentence and make up a story to go with it. If children have trouble coming up with ideas, you might want to provide prompts such as, “How does your age compare to your brother’s age?” or “Do you and the person sitting beside you have the same number of pencils in your desk?”
