After students have investigated the problem, make a table of the class’s experiments and have students look for a pattern.

Possible student responses
- For 1 point, you can draw 0 segments.
- For 2 points, you can draw 1 segment.
- For 3 point, you can draw 3 segments. (It’s a triangle).
- For 4 points you can draw 6 segments.
- For 5 points, you can draw 10 segments.
- For 6 points you can draw 15 segments.
