Headline Story
Joy walked along three sides of a square field of grass and measured the distance she walked. From just that measurement, how can Joy figure out the total distance around the field?
Possible student responses
- Divide the distance Joy walked by 3 to find the length of one side of the field.
- Since the field is a square, multiply by 4 to find the total distance around the field.
