Headline Story
Andrew tossed a number cube twice and then found the sum of the two numbers he tossed. What can you say about the sum?
Possible student responses
- The sum must have been at last 2.
- He could have gotten 2 only by tossing 1 twice.
- The sum could not have been greater than 12.
- He could have gotten 12 only by tossing 6 twice.
- There are 4 different ways he could have gotten a sum of 5: tossing 1 and 4, 2 and 3, 3 and 2, or 4 and 1.
