Introduction
Read the Headline Story to the students. Encourage them to think of imaginative scenarios that incorporate information from the story.
Headline Story
Margot picked a marble out of a bag of marbles, recorded its color, and returned it to the bag. She shook up the bag and then repeated the process several times. She drew a red marble 
of the time.
Possible student responses
- If Margot drew 9 marbles in all, she must have picked a red marble 3 times.
- If Margot drew 7 red marbles, she must have repeated the drawing process 21 times.
- The number of marbles Margot drew is a multiple of 3, because one-third of that number is a whole number.
- Margot must have drawn at least 3 marbles, at least 1 of which was red.
