Headline Story
Billy spent exactly $10.00 on rocks for his rock collection. He bought fewer than 100 rocks and each rock cost the same amount of money. Could he have bought 30 rocks?
Possible student responses
- No, if each rock cost $0.33, then 30 rocks would cost $9.90.
- If each rock cost $0.34, then 30 rocks would cost $10.20.
- There is no way to spend exactly $10.
