Read the Headline Story to the students. Encourage them to think of creative ways to answer the question.
Headline Story
Make a list of the first 12 multiples of 3 (0, 3, 6, and so on) and a similar list of multiples of 6. What do you notice about the numbers in the lists?
Possible student responses
- All the multiples of 6 are also multiples of 3.
- All the multiples of 6 are even, but the multiples of 3 are odd and even.
- The multiples of 3 alternate even, odd, even, odd, and so on.
