Introduction
Read the Headline Story to the students. Encourage them to think of creative ways to name solutions. If students only discuss one condition, encourage them to make a connection with the other condition such as, not green.
Headline Story
Jason has 12 marbles. He places his marbles into groups of equal size and says, “One out of every two marbles is green.” What can you say?
Possible student responses
- Jason could have groups with 1 green marble and 1 marble of a different color.
- He could have 3 groups of green marbles and 3 groups of marbles that are not green.
- He has 6 green marbles.
- One half of his marbles are green.
