Headline Story
Lori’s lunch period ends half an hour before her little brother Dan’s and half an hour before her friend Paige’s. Our school’s lunch periods are only 25 minutes long and don’t start or end on the hour. What can you figure out from this information?
Possible student responses
- Dan eats lunch earliest; Paige eats latest.
- Lunch can’t start or end at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 1:00, or 2:00.
- Lunch also can’t start at times like 10:35, 11:35, and so on, or at 11:05 or 12:05.
- If Dan’s lunch begins at 10:45, it ends at 11:10 and Lori’s begins at 11:15.
