Introduction
Read the Headline Story to the class, and have children complete the story by posing a question. Encourage them to use creativity in their questions. Have children find a solution to their problem and share it with the class.
Headline Story
Warren’s Bait Shack is selling worms for 3¢ each, or 2 for a nickel.
Possible student responses
- It is cheaper to buy the worms two at a time so I buy only even numbers of worms.
- If I buy 2 worms, it costs 5¢.
- I could make a table to figure out what different numbers of worms would cost:
