Introduction
Read the Headline Story to children, and have them use the information in the story to create interesting problems. After finishing the story, have children write a number sentence that fits.

Celia bought 4 yards of blue fabric and 2 yards of green fabric.
Possible student responses
- Celia bought 6 yards of fabric since 4 + 2 = 6.
- Celia bought 2 more yards of blue fabric than green fabric since 4 – 2 = 2;.
- Celia bought twice as much blue fabric as green fabric since 2 x 2 = 4.
