Introduction
Share the headline story with the class, and ask them to think of a story that goes with the number sentence. You might ask them to complete the number sentence and then tell you different ways to illustrate the subtraction. If no one suggests it, you might mention using a number line, comparing, taking away, and finding a missing number.
