The focus of this Headline Story is to allow children to think creatively and respond at varying levels. You may want to ask questions such as, “Are the coins the same or different?”, “How much are the coins worth?”, or “Which two coins would be the least money?”

Brianna has 2 coins.

- If she has 2 pennies, then she has 2¢.
- If she has 2 nickels, then she has 10¢.
- If she has 2 dimes, then she has 20¢.
- The least amount of money she could have is 2¢.
- She might have 2 different coins, such as a penny and a nickel or a penny and a dime, or a nickel and a dime.
