Headline Story
Arlene finished lunch 15 minutes before Sonya. They both started eating at noon. By 12:30 P.M., they both were done with their lunches. What can you say about when they finished?
Possible student responses
- Sonya took at most 29 minutes and more than 15 minutes to eat her lunch.
- Arlene did not take more than 15 minutes to eat her lunch.
- If I knew how much time Arlene took to eat her lunch, I’d add 15 minutes to that to have Sonya’s time, A + 15 = S.
