Headline Story
Diane made a pattern with these numbers:
1, 2, 4, 8,…
She wants to continue the pattern.
Possible student responses
- In this pattern, each number is double the number that comes before it.
- The pattern begins with the number 1. One doubled is 2. Two doubled is 4. To continue the pattern, double 8 to make 16. Sixteen doubled is 32. Thirty-two doubled is 64. Sixty–four doubled is 128.
