Introduction
Have children tell a story to match the number sentence. Then have them find all of the ways to complete the number sentence.
Possible student responses
- Jim put some coins in a jar. Dana put more coins in the jar. Now there are 6 coins in the jar.
- There are 7 ways to complete the number sentence: 0 + 6 = 6, 1 + 5 = 6, 2 + 4 = 6, 3 + 3 = 6, 4 + 2 = 6, 5 + 1 = 6, and 6 + 0 = 6.
