Possible student responses
- If Maria has only 9 stuffed animals, then Julia doesn’t have any.
- Maria must have at least 10 stuffed animals for Julia to have any stuffed animals at all.
- If Julia has 2 animals, Maria has 11.
- If Julia has 3, Maria has 12.
- Combining Maria’s animals and Julia’s animals will always result in an odd number of animals.
