Introduction
Read the Headline Story to children and ask questions that prompt discussion about what time they get up on weekdays and weekends. Encourage children to make comparisons between their routines and the one in Headline Story.
Headline Story
Aaron gets up at 7 o’clock on weekdays. On the weekends he gets up later.
Possible student responses
- I get up earlier on the weekends than the weekdays.
- I get up at 6 on weekdays.
- Maybe Aaron gets up at 8 on weekends.
- I’m supposed to get up at 6:30, but sometimes I don’t get up until 7 and then we have to hurry to get to school on time.
- Once I slept until 11.
- We know Aaron doesn’t get up at 6 on the weekends, because that’s earlier than 7.
- Aaron’s school must start sometime after 7, because you have to get up before school starts so that you have some time to get ready.
- Maybe Aaron’s school starts at 8:30.
