Read the Headline Story to the students. Encourage them to write number sentences to go with the picture.

Headline Story

Lori measured a length of sting in meters, but then realized she needed to record to measurement in centimeters. She knows that there are 100 centimeters in 1 meter.

Possible student responses

If the string is 1 meter, then it is 100 centimeters.
If the string is 2 meters, then it is 200 centimeters.
If the string is 2 $\frac{1}{2}$ meters, then it is 250 centimeters.
I can make a chart of possible lengths:

Meters	1	2	5	30	$\frac{1}{2}$	3 $\frac{1}{2}$
Centimeters	100	200	500	3,000	50	350
