If any students are unsure how to begin to answer the question, you might ask, “What two answers could Sadie give for her collection of dimes?”
Headline Story
Sadie had a large collection of dimes. Sometimes she counted the dimes to figure out the amount she had, and other times she figured out the amount of money in dollars. What can you say?
Possible student responses
- If she had 100 dimes, she would have 1000 cents or $10.
- If she had 50 dimes, she would have 500 cents or $5.
- If she had 73 dimes, she would have 730 cents or $7.30.
