Read the Headline Story to the students. Encourage them to create problems that can be solved using information from the story.

Jon was the first student to arrive at the classroom. Max arrived second, and Annie arrived last. Annie was the only student to arrive late.
Possible student responses
- Max arrived before Annie, but after Jon.
- If school started at 8:30, Jon could have arrived at 8:20, Max at 8:25, and Annie at 8:35.
- If school began at 7:45, Jon could have arrived at 7:40, Max at 7:42, and Annie at 7:46.
