Read the Headline Story aloud to the class. Discuss the fact that there are many ways to complete the story and you would like to hear their suggestions.

You might want to modify the Headline Story and ask for statements that begin instead with, “There is 1 _____,” or, I see 1 _____.” Some children may find these sentence prompts easier to use than the prompt in the Headline Story.
