Grade 5

Writing this problem on the board may help students to keep track of the relevant information.

There are between 23 and 27 students in each class at the Water City School. If there are usually two classes for each grade, kindergarten through fifth grade, what can you say about the number of students in the school?

- There are about 12 classes, so there might be between 240 and 360 students.
- You could get a good estimate by multiplying 25 by 12 to get 300 students.
- If there were 10 classes in the school, you could find out how many students are in one class and multiply by 10.
