Headline Story
Aki needed 1¢ more than she had to buy a set of marbles. Her friend Niki needed 55¢ more than she had to buy the same set of marbles. Together the two girls did not have enough money to buy the marbles. How can that be possible?
Possible student responses
- Niki did not have any money, and the marble set costs 55¢.
- Aki had 54¢, and Niki had 0¢.
