My number is a multiple of 300. It is greater than 2,100, but less then 3,100. What could my number be? How do you know?
Possible student responses
- Since the number is a multiple of 300, it couldn’t be 2,200 because 22 is not divisible by 3.
- It couldn’t be 2,100 because that is too small.
- The number could be 2,400, 2,700, or 3,000.
