Introduction
Headline Stories are deliberately open-ended to encourage various levels of responses. For this Headline Story, you might want to prompt creative and logical thinking with a question such as “If you use 7 green boxes to make a tower, can you make a red tower the same height?”
Headline Story
In Kim’s set of building blocks, there are small green boxes and large red boxes. Each red box is as tall as two green boxes.
Possible student responses
- If you build a red tower and a green tower of the same height, you will use more green boxes.
- If you make a red tower that is 3 boxes, a green tower of the same height would be 6 boxes.
- For a green tower and a red tower to be the same height, you have to use an even number of green boxes.
