Diana made a shape out of 6 square-inch tiles with no overlap, and then found the perimeter.
Possible student responses
- If she made a long and think 1-by-6 rectangle, then the perimeter was 14 inches.
- If she made a 2-by-3 rectangle, then the perimeter was 10 inches.
- She could have made a shape that looks like steps with 3 squares in bottom row, 2 in the middle row, and 1 in the top row, in which case the perimeter would have been 12 inches.
