Read the Headline Story to your students. This story has students think about temperatures that would or would not require wearing a jacket and reasonable amounts of temperature change in a day. Reasonable answers depend on your local climate.
Headline Story
Because it was _____°F outside, Zoe decided to wear a jacket. Later, the temperature was _____°F, and she took her jacket off.
Possible student responses
- If it was 22°F when Zoe wore her jacket, it probably would not warm up enough to take the jacket off.
- Zoe would probably not wear a jacket if it was 80°F.
