Write the Headline Story on the board and read it to the class. If children need help in coming up with some ideas, remind them of any past experiences with trading, such as trading pattern blocks (e.g., two green triangles for a blue rhombus) and money (e.g., five pennies for one nickel). You might ask, “How many green pattern blocks can you trade for a blue pattern block?” or “How many pennies can your trade for a nickel?” Encourage children to think of creative ways to complete the story.
