Display the image pictured in the sidebar, Green and Blue Pattern Blocks, to children. Encourage children to tell something about the picture. If they need help coming up with some of the ideas suggested in the sample responses, ask questions such as, “What shapes do you see?”, “How many are there?”, or “What if you put the shapes together?”
