Headline Story
Walter has an odd number of coins, but his total amount of money is even. He has pennies, nickels, or dimes. He has fewer than 6 coins.
Possible student responses
- Walter could have 1 coin, 3 coins, or 5 coins.
- He cannot have all pennies or all nickels.
- He could have an odd number of dimes.
- I can make a table to list some different amounts Walter could have if he has 3 coins:
