Headline Story
Dina rounded a number to the nearest ten. Then she rounded the number to the nearest hundred. Both answers were the same.
Possible student responses
- The nearest ten is also a hundred.
- The number could be 199.
- The nearest ten is 200, and 200 is also the nearest hundred.
- It could be 304, because the nearest ten and the nearest hundred are both 300.
- The number has to be no more than five less or four greater than a multiple of 100. For example, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 101, 102, 103, or 104 could be her number.
