Share the Headline Story with the class. Encourage students to create problems that can be solved using information from the story.
Headline Story
- Three numbers have a sum of 10.
Possible student responses
- They might be 3, 4, and 3.
- 7 + 2 + 1 = 10.
- One of the numbers has to be even, because if you add three odd numbers, the sum is odd too.
- Could they all be even? 2 + 2 + 6 = 10, Yes.
